The Inner Colony Chapter 4

The moon had changed a bit the past thousand years, from just "being" there it became the main transportation hub from Earth to the explored galaxy. Now it flourished as the new rich moved from Earth to the Moon, creating private and exclusive neighborhoods, absence of gravity was a problem long solved, so it became less stressful to the human body to adapt to zero gravity, especially when sex was involved. Rex had bought a modest apartment on the dark side of the moon by using different corporations and trust funds, so to the system his name wasn't related to him. He had the password to the entry, which would later request the normal bioscan of the inhabitants of the place. Name please? Asked the door politely. Maximus Luscius! Said Rex in a baritone voice; please place hand on scanner to set your entry. Rex did and he got access. Olga named herself Penelope Luscius. And we never got our wedding reception! Said Olga sarcastically. But you sure have enjoyed the honeymoon.

Once settled Rex started to think of all possible loose ends that could have lead anyone against him. Haven't you even thought that it was me they were looking for? I have valuable secrets just as you do! You could be right, but then again how come you didn't detect any danger in Calcutta? I can't detect what I can't see. It’s not that I am scanning of every mind out there. Besides, I'm just starting to get a hang of it! Let's get some rest maybe in the morning we will have a few answers.

The dark side of the moon just like its name is pitch black all day, so the light cycle has been set artificially in order for the human body to behave normally, the "windows" actually reflect a sunny side of the moon. Clever! Said Olga, I guess this is where our taxes go. Rex was preparing breakfast, when he stopped and sighed; Of course! The capsule has been found! And with it my notes! How could you be so careless? Didn’t you hide it or destroy it? Yes, but it was in such an obvious place, that no one would have guessed. And where is that? In the Smithsonian Museum, in the replica of the Challenger Space Shuttle. It had the same box, so I switched them. Ok, that could be a possibility, but who normally access this stuff? Cleaners or curators. Who knows, maybe some researcher happen to access it and reveal what I know. You're full of shit you know? Besides, you didn't say to the box that you would have been in Calcutta, nor did you? Rex realized he wasn't as clever as he thought. To him this was like a game, and if you want to win, clumsiness is paid heavily.

Forget Calcutta!, lets stick to the plan. The President will arrive to the Moon in 76 days; we need to get near him so you can scan his thoughts. You will start to look for a job in the Conference Center, use your mental persuasion to get a function as a hostess or assistant to the diplomatic committees, normally these persons can get within the 20 feet to the delegates and the man himself. Once you give me the signal that he's harmless we'll be done, if you see anything abnormal, I will pull the trigger. You should stay in the area, leave after you've been interrogated and mind screened. Once you've fooled the machine just beam yourself to the meeting point. Get it? Sure, just one question. How come I have to be the hostess? Do you think we women have evolved in the last couple of millenniums to keep being nice pets? Oh come on! you know you like to show off that body!, specially those new

Missiles in your breasts!, besides if anything goes wrong you won't be blasted. Like if I want to live forever! Said Olga walking to the showers. And let's stop planning for a while, I need my engine oiled, cleaned and flushed! Sure Maam! Cumming right up! Rex was becoming her sex slave, and he was enjoying it.

Olga went to the Moon's central employment center, and using her mental persuasion powers, she managed to see the head of the recruitment department. Good morning Mrs. Luscius, said the old man behind a retro styled desk. Please call me Penelope; said Olga shaking his hand. Mrs. Luscius, if you really desire to work in this sanctuary of diplomacy, the first rule of proper engagement is never to use your first name; you should know this, your resume states that you graduated with honors from the 3000 year old and prestige University of Oxford. Olga just stared at him for a couple of seconds, and then he said; but nevertheless we want you here. Would seven thousand credits a month suit your needs? Oh! Mr. Brown, you are more than I expected!. I would love to work here for that generous amount. When do I start? Well, it's the middle of the week, so why don't you come next Monday and we'll get you started. Sure Mr. Brown; it's been a pleasure talking to you, and surely will be another working...for you. Olga stepped out of the office with a smile across her face.

Ha! Who would have guessed that the head of recruiter has fetishes for lipstick and nail polish? that wouldn't look nice on his resume! Olga's head was always like a poker game, where each player took its turn to make the plays and turn in the chips. Even though the four plus her personality lived within, no one had dared to have a name, so Olga named them accordingly. Marte was the warrior, he was on alert mode all the time, strategy, armor, and all the military knowledge was available to him. Serenity was the humanist, sexy, artist, flamboyant and aristocratic. She just knew how to get to people, her charms worked with almost all men Olga had ever known. Tron was the technologic whiz, he took care of all computer, communications, and monitoring of Olga's electronic surroundings. And finally there was Frances, she was the keeper and warden of her brain implant, she made sure that all other personalities used Olga's brain efficiently without overuse, if she ever failed to do this; Olga could become either a Whore or the worst mercenary the universe has ever known.

Rex? Are you home? No answer; umm. He didn't have plans when I left. Don't be stupid said Marte, he knows we're scanning his thoughts when we're together, so once we leave he starts to plan again, remember he is a trained military officer; and one thing is for sure. He's not dumb!. Well don't worry said Serenity; we all agree that he hasn't lied to Olga so far, his brainwaves are so normal we could even know when he has cravings for a glass of milk. We saw the assassination plan right from the start. So let's stop this paranoia. Maybe he just when for a drink. Olga's been drying him out lately. Shut the fuck up! All of you; said Olga, just be quiet for a while! I think you're starting to love him said Frances from the back of her brain. Yeah right! I just don't trust him yet. Well trusting a guy whose life purpose is to become the galaxy's most wanted criminal is kind of hard. Don't you think? Yeah, yeah.

Rex was waiting for the Smithsonian Museum to close; he had already gotten a maintenance pass. Once inside he went directly to the Challenger Shuttle; got inside and opened the box, just to realize his fears were true. It was empty! How could he been so careless? My cockiness will lead me to fail. Rex was desperate. He stepped out, and while walking towards the nearest beaming station, he thought; but wait a minute, why would someone have the same conclusion I did? It didn't say that "whoever opens this box should kill the President at once". Maybe it was an historian, and will make it public. Poor soul! Ha, just getting past the sensors to publish the findings will take another two thousand years!. But now it was too late to go back, he had decided and now had the best weapon ever. Olga Cienfuegos.

Hello? Are you here? yes!, and where the fuck have you been? Nice welcome. I was in Washington trying to get the box back, but it was too late, it was gone. What? We’re doomed! We should just leave! Hold on, the box is just a recording, is not a recipe book. Who knows maybe it will be shown to the public. Besides, why are you so upset? Didn’t get the job? No! They turned me down! They said I was too old, fat, and ugly! Ha ha, sure. Like if I believe you; you are just jealous! does that mean I'm punished? No fockifocki tonight? Olga couldn't believe herself. He was right. She loved him, and didn't want to lose him from her ever. But if she revealed herself, it was her doom. Me? Remember you are just a talking dildo to me! The rush of killing the President is what drives me, after it's over. I'll go my way and you can go your way. Before she even finished the sentence, Rex had his lips in hers, kissing her lavishly and tenderly. Her tongue was his prisoner. And she would be the happiest prisoner ever.

As the days passed, Olga started working in the Convention Center, learning was easy for her, and she won the approval from all the staff in the first two weeks. Marte was screening all possible places to place Rex with the phaser rifle; Tron saved all the passwords and hand scan for every possible access door. Serenity made sure Olga was pleasant and flirting with every possible man in the building, not one had any doubts about her. Frances was starting to feel out of the loop; she knew her job was to keep order in Olga's mind. But deep inside she felt jealous of the others.

Rex started working in a security company who provided services for the diplomats visiting the moon. Not as a fancy bodyguard, that would have been too obvious, but as a communication technician. Low profile, boring stuff. But perfect, since the rotation of techs in the moon was the highest in the know world. That would be giving Rex the perfect excuse to leave after the "possible" assassination. Rex introduced every bit of the phaser by parts to a safe and hidden area in the compound; Olga brought in some parts herself. The front door scanner was set to detect 99.9% of all manufactured weapons in the world. But when you break it apart in 100 parts, it was undetectable. It's amazing what you can learn from 20th century films! Rex said to Olga while meeting in a nearby restaurant for dinner.

We have three days Olga; are you prepared? Come on Rex, I've been working my ass of for the past two months; I know every molecule of the fucking center! Every man, woman and robot is accounted for, why the insecurity? It's been too easy so far. After Calcutta I really believed somebody would have found our tracks; but no. That's all. Oh my dear hubby! Don't call me that you bitch!, everything is a game to you. You know something Rex? Fuck you! Besides; I'm the one who thinks you don't have the balls to go ahead with the plan. Maybe you're right! All I know is this plan has too many flaws and no time to fix them. Never mind; you weren't made to live 300 years like your father, some do die young like you. Can we just eat in peace?

Frank Bicculo had been in office for the past 12 terms, each term of ten years. He was the first in so many things that people just stop counting. He consolidated the trade federation who send the first explorers to the Betmangtrix Belt. The gamble paid off when the first expeditions found planets filled with Aluminum Mountains and iron ore laying on the ground, going two kilometers deep across the planet. With one laser call all mining companies on Earth went broke, since all they had to do was beam the raw material to Earth. In these 120 years Frank outlasted the last generation of politics who after 300 years couldn't run for office, and since he's only 240 years old, he has at least another sixty more on his belt. Enough to start executing his personal plan. If one quality excelled from him over the other was his patience; 100 years in the making. The time had come, soon the wheels would start turning toward his own personal revolution.

Olga stop! Stop! But Olga kept on going thru the street corridors of their Moon sector, Rex was weak and she needed him to be the strong bastard that started this journey 3 months ago. What! Leave me alone! Olga, I was just testing you, to see if you had the guts to keep on going. Rex, spare me the explanation. Remember I can read your mind anytime, and all I see is doubt and fear. Ha! Ha! Ha! Rex couldn't hold it anymore. Olga; I have to be honest with you. I can block your brain waves at will, ever since day one! I can't read your mind, but I can trigger inner sense blockers. I was born with this gift, that's how I could pass all the examinations in the military academy, but until I met you I never had the chance to block myself from another human being. So that means that you could have killed me ever since Calcutta? Yes, but I couldn't, wouldn't and shouldn't kill the only woman I have ever loved and cared for? For the first time Rex saw Olga completely defenseless with tears in her eyes; she hugged him like the little lost girl who finds her father. But she found her match, her master and her man
